Get to know The Conkle Brothers

OUR STORY
Music has been the heart and soul of our family’s name for as long as our story can be told. Some of our earliest and fondest memories are of band practices from the several bands our dad was drumming for, the two of us sitting in on weekly jam sessions and countless shows, our childhood was nothing but music to our ears.
We moved around a lot as kids and ended up in a small town called Shadyside in southern Ohio where we attended high school. Through a local church we met Joe Courtney, who soon became an incredible mentor, but even more so, a big brother to us. Joe played guitar, had toured the world as a musician, and had just relocated his family to southern Ohio to take a job as a youth pastor at a small church. When we first met Joe, he asked us if we would consider helping him with a project he was starting called Re.gen Youth. It was essentially a band that would play for special events at the church, while simultaneously creating a space for a community of young people. Desperate for any excuse to shred some electric and bang on the drums, we said “Yes!”
At this point in time, our musical roots hadn't exceeded punk rock and heavy metal covers, but Joe saw potential and proceeded to sculpt both of us into efficient musicians. But it didn't stop there, Joe took us under his wing like it was his job to do so. He sculpted us into young gentlemen and prepared us for the world he knew we would eventually encounter. In the spring of 2011, Joe took a job at a large church/organization in Rochester New York. Ironically, without mention, our Mom had already been in the process of relocating the three of us to Rochester as well.
Our journey as young musicians started in Rochester, New York. Very quickly, Joe Courtney connected us to The Fathers House, a large church organization in Chili NY. There, we were stretched as musicians. Being put on a large stage several times a week, we were able to polish and perfect our performances and stage presence. A lot of our free time was spent playing with different local bands or musicians and immersing ourselves in anything and everything involving music.
Our years in New York had given us a platform to practice and grow, so in the spring of 2014 we moved to Colorado Springs. By our side was our greatest pal and bass player Andrew Benidict who had followed us from Rochester. A few months into a blues trio project, we teamed up with a powerhouse vocalist, Montana Horsfall, and together, as iron sharpens iron, we started to grow yet again. We wrote more music in the mountains than anywhere else before. The music was great, the mountains were beautiful, and the people were amazing.
After two incredible years in the mountains making amazing music and life long friendships, had we wanted to stay or not, the unseen forces of this world had inevitably brought us back home. But rather than fight it, we embraced it. We moved back to our family farm in northeast Ohio and started working on our music. We spent the next several months converting the hay loft of an old horse barn into a practice space/ recording studio. Now, with a sturdy foundation, we are determined to connect ourselves with our local community to shine a new light on LIVE music.
In the Fall of 2018, Columbiana Ohio started to progress at a perfect pace for us, from a musicians perspective at least. New venues and restaurants started popping up just miles from our home. Our first gig in Columbiana was at Homestead Kitchen & Cocktails, a rural urban restaurant with a breathtaking atmosphere. There, we became great friends with Jarod and Kyle Bullen. They pushed us to perform, so we did, and because of this consistency, we had yet again found the perfect platform for the next step of our musical journey. We're forever grateful for the Bullen family and the way they believe in our dreams.
We want to sincerely thank everyone who has ever believed in us, listened to a single song we've played, gave us advice, booked us for a show, etc... you are all a part of what we are doing, what we will do, and what we will become.
Much Love as always, -The Conkle Brothers
